How To Remove Cooler Water LineUpdated a year ago

In the event you need to remove your water line, please follow these simple steps for a safe and effective removal:

Connecting the Tubing

1.  Preparation: Ensure the tubing is the correct size and cleanly cut at a right angle. This helps create a proper seal.

2.  Insertion with Collet Clip:

a.  Check if the collet clip is in place on the fitting. It's a small ring or sleeve at the end where the tubing enters the fitting.

b.  Push the tubing straight into the fitting. It should slide in easily and securely. Push until it stops, then give it a slight additional push to ensure it's fully inserted.

c.  The collet clip will automatically secure the tubing in place.

3.  Confirmation:

a.  Gently pull on the tubing to check if it’s locked in place. It should not come out or move if properly secured.

b.  No additional tools or force are required. The fitting is designed for easy hand insertion.

 Disconnecting the Tubing

1.  Releasing the Tubing:

a.  To remove the tubing, you need to release it from the collet clip.

b.  Press inward on the collet towards the fitting. This action compresses the collet and releases its grip on the tubing.

2.  Removing the Tubing:

a.  While pressing the collet, gently pull the tubing out. It should release and come out of the fitting without much force.

b.  If the tubing feels stuck, ensure you're pressing the collet sufficiently to release its grip.

3.  Reinserting or Reusing:

a.  If you need to reconnect the tubing or use it again, inspect the end. It should be damage-free and cut squarely.

b.  If damaged or uneven, cut the tubing to create a fresh, square end before reinserting.

Best Practices and Tips

  • Leak Checks: After making connections, always check for leaks. If you notice a leak, disconnect, inspect, and reconnect.
  • Avoid Excessive Force: These fittings are designed to be used without tools. Excessive force or tools might damage the tubing or fitting.
  • Regular Inspections: Periodically check the connections, especially if the system is subject to movement or vibration.
